Porongo is a large (250 ml capacity) yerba mate vessel made from palo santo (so called "sacred wood") and forged with metal. The palo santo tree is native to South America and is famous for exuding a resin with an unusual natural scent. The infusion prepared in it will have a unique aroma. The solid structure of the vessel makes it resistant to mechanical damage and keeps the temperature of the brew well.
